Visiting the Frida Kahlo High School in Los Angeles in 2008 was an amazing experience, the students we met, the stories we heard, the dedicated staff and most of all the resilience and determination of the young people who shared with us the past, their lives and their dreams. Powerful and revealing stuff indeed. You know, I never did tell my Mum that I had lunch with a number of second-generation gang members…I would never have heard the end of it. 😉
